What You Will Need
Before you start, make sure you have:
- A Facebook account with active Marketplace listings
- Google Chrome browser (the extension works on Chrome only)
- About 5 minutes for setup
Step 1: Create Your PilotAgent Account
Go to pilotagent.ai and click "Start Free Trial." You will create an account with your email and password.
All paid plans come with a 7-day trial. You get full access to every feature during the trial period.
Step 2: Configure Your AI Agent
After signing up, you will land on your dashboard. The first thing to do is configure your AI agent. You have two options:
Profile Builder (Recommended)
The Profile Builder is a structured form that walks you through everything your AI needs to know. It has four tabs:
Business Tab: Enter your business name, type of business, location, operating hours, and a short description. This gives the AI context about who you are.
Communication Tab: Set the tone (friendly, professional, casual), preferred language, greeting style, and how long responses should be. This controls how your AI sounds.
Policies Tab: Define your pricing rules, return policy, shipping options, and payment methods. This is where negotiation rules live. Set your minimum acceptable prices and maximum discount percentages here.
Custom Instructions Tab: Add any specific instructions that do not fit the other categories. For example, "Always mention that pickup is available evenings and weekends."
Prompt Editor (Advanced)
If you prefer writing your own AI instructions directly, switch to the Prompt Editor. This gives you a text editor where you can write custom prompts. The Profile Builder and Prompt Editor stay in sync, so you can switch between them anytime.
Step 3: Add Your Listings
Go to the Listings page in your dashboard. Add the products you are selling on Marketplace. For each listing, include:
- Product name
- Description
- Price
- Condition
- Any relevant details the AI should know
The AI uses your listings to give accurate information when buyers ask about specific items. If a buyer asks "How much is the dining table?" the AI can reference your listing and give the correct price.
Step 4: Install the Chrome Extension
Visit pilotagent.ai/extension to install the Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store.
After installation:
- Click the PilotAgent icon in your Chrome toolbar
- Log in with your PilotAgent account credentials
- The extension will connect to your dashboard configuration
Step 5: Go Live
Open Facebook Marketplace or Messenger in Chrome. You will see the PilotAgent floating panel in the corner of your screen. It shows:
- Connection status (green means active)
- Your current agent name
- Pause/Resume button for the current conversation
The AI is now monitoring your Marketplace messages. When a buyer sends a message, PilotAgent reads it, generates a response using your configuration and listings, and sends the reply automatically.
Step 6: Monitor and Adjust
Check your dashboard regularly during the first few days. Review the conversations to make sure the AI is responding the way you want. If something needs adjusting:
- Tone too formal? Change it in the Communication tab.
- Accepting offers that are too low? Tighten your negotiation rules in the Policies tab.
- Missing product details? Update your listings with more information.
What Happens Next
As conversations flow, PilotAgent automatically captures buyer contact information into your CRM. You can view, filter, and export these leads from your dashboard.
If you are on an Enterprise plan, you can add more agents for additional Marketplace accounts. If you are on Enterprise+, you can set up webhooks to push leads to external systems.
